Description

Jolly Old Saint Nicholas is an accessible Christmas arrangement by Antonio Sori for three guitars and bass guitar. The familiar American Christmas tune, with music attributed to James R. Murray, is presented in a clear, transparent ensemble setting.

The arrangement builds gradually: the melody is initially carried by the first guitar, before the other guitar parts and finally the bass guitar join in. Simple, easy-to-follow individual parts combine to create an increasingly full ensemble sound. The accompanying parts pick up rhythmic and melodic ideas from the main melody, giving the piece a lively yet clearly structured character.

The edition includes all parts in both standard notation and guitar tablature, making it especially suitable for guitar ensembles, music schools, and group lessons. The instrumentation consists of three guitars and one bass guitar.

Jolly Old Saint Nicholas is well suited to Advent and Christmas concerts, student recitals, and ensemble projects, combining a traditional Christmas melody with a straightforward, contemporary guitar arrangement.
